Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information Circuit Commits collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It covers circuitcommits.com and any service we provide through it. If anything here is unclear, email us at info@circuitcommits.com and we will explain it in plain terms.
The short version. We collect what we need to show you where you fit and to run your account — nothing else. We do not sell your personal information. We do not run advertising. We do not send marketing email or newsletters. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. You can ask us to delete your account and your data at any time.
1. Information you give us
| What | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| Name and email address | To create and secure your account and to send account-critical notices. |
| Password | Stored only as a one-way encrypted hash. We never see or store your actual password. |
| Athletic metrics — velocity, 60 time, exit velocity, pop time, position, class year, and similar | To calculate your projected level, heat maps, and program fit. This is the core of what the service does. |
| Academic information such as GPA or test scores, if you provide it | To match you against programs' academic profiles and estimate aid eligibility. |
| Home ZIP code or state | To calculate real in-state versus out-of-state cost and distance to each program. |
| Target lists, notes, and outreach records you create | To save your recruiting work so it's there when you come back. |
| Messages you send us | To answer your question. |
2. Information we collect automatically
When you use the site we record basic technical information — IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps — in ordinary server logs. We use this to keep the service running, diagnose errors, and detect abuse. We also set one essential cookie to keep you signed in.
Cookies. We use a single session cookie for authentication. It is required for signing in and cannot be turned off while you are logged in. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking pixels, or cross-site behavioural profiling.
3. Payment information
Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and are never sent to or stored on our servers. We store only a Stripe customer reference and your subscription status, so we know whether your account has access. Stripe's handling of your payment data is governed by Stripe's own privacy policy.
4. Information about schools and coaches
Our directory of programs, staff and contact details is compiled from publicly available sources such as official athletics websites and public directories. This is professional contact information published by institutions, not private personal data. Any coach or institution may ask us to remove their information at any time by emailing info@circuitcommits.com, and we will do so.
5. How we use your information
- To provide the service — calculating your tier, fit scores, cost estimates and target lists.
- To create and secure your account, and to detect fraud or abuse.
- To process your subscription and manage billing through Stripe.
- To respond to your questions and support requests.
- To send you notices that are necessary for your account or required by law — for example, advance notice before a price change takes effect.
- To improve the service, using aggregated and de-identified information that does not identify you.
- To comply with legal obligations.
6. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share it only in these situations:
- Service providers who run the platform for us — our hosting provider, our database provider, Stripe for payments, and our email delivery provider. They may process your information only to provide services to us, under contract.
- Verified college coaches, but only if you choose to make your player profile visible to them. You control this setting and can turn it off at any time. If your profile is not visible, coaches cannot see it.
- When the law requires it — in response to a valid legal request, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our users or of Circuit Commits.
- In a business transfer — if the service is ever sold or merged, your information may transfer with it. We will notify you first, and the buyer will remain bound by this policy or one at least as protective.
7. Email — what you will and won't get
We do not send marketing email, newsletters, weekly digests, or promotional messages of any kind. You will not be added to a mailing list, and we will not sell or share your email address with anyone for marketing.
We will email you only when it is necessary for your account or required by law: advance notice before a price change, confirmation of your subscription terms when you subscribe, a security or account-access notice, or a reply to a message you send us. Stripe sends its own payment receipts directly to you.
8. Players under 18 (and COPPA)
The service is intended for people aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not create an account or send us any personal information. If we learn we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete the account and the information promptly.
If you are between 13 and 18, please review this policy with a parent or guardian, and have a parent or guardian handle any subscription and payment. Parents and guardians may contact us at info@circuitcommits.com to review, correct or delete their child's information, or to make the child's profile invisible to coaches.
Because our users include high-school athletes, we are deliberately conservative: no advertising, no third-party tracking, no sale of data, and profile visibility to coaches is a choice you make rather than a default.
9. How long we keep it
We keep your account information for as long as your account is open. If you close your account or ask us to delete it, we delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to keep certain records — for example, billing and transaction records we must retain for tax and accounting purposes, and records of subscription consent that consumer-protection law requires us to hold. Backups are overwritten on a rolling basis.
10. How we protect it
Connections to the site are encrypted with HTTPS. Passwords are stored as one-way hashes. Access to production data is limited to those who need it, and card numbers never touch our systems. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take these responsibilities seriously and will notify you and any required authority if a breach affects your personal information.
11. Your choices and rights
- See and correct your information — most of it is editable directly in your account.
- Control coach visibility — turn your profile's visibility to verified coaches on or off at any time.
- Get a copy of your data — email info@circuitcommits.com and we will send you an export.
- Delete your account and data — email info@circuitcommits.com. Note that deleting your account does not by itself cancel a paid subscription; cancel that at circuitcommits.com/billing first.
- Complain — you can raise a concern with us at info@circuitcommits.com, or with your state's consumer protection authority.
We will not discriminate against you — by degrading the service or charging you more — for exercising any of these rights.
12. California residents
If you live in California, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request a copy, to request deletion, to request correction, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law, so there is nothing to opt out of, but the other rights are available to you by emailing info@circuitcommits.com. We will verify your request against your account before acting on it.
The categories of personal information described in Section 1 above are the categories we collect. We do not collect biometric information, precise geolocation, or the contents of your private communications.
13. Other states
Several other states give residents similar rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a portable copy of their personal information. If you live in one of them, email info@circuitcommits.com and we will honour your request on the same terms.
14. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that materially affects how we handle your personal information, we will update the effective date above and notify you by email before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the service afterwards means you accept the updated policy.
